Before they started working on their own masterpieces, I showed the kids several portraits by Henri Matisse including a self portrait. I encouraged them to mimic his style by using lots of bright colors with dramatic background designs.
Young artists are amazing! They are such a delight to teach.
Wow- Those look like they turned out great! I'll have to remember that project to use later down the road...
